CARBON REDUCTION PLAN

Samson Security Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2035.

We are a private limited company reporting our Greenhouse Gas emissions on a voluntary basis as we are not required to report under Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases, produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2022

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

New baseline created due to substantial organisational restructuring. Scope 3 TBC

Baseline year emissions:

We have measured all the emissions produced by the business using the SECR Carbon Footprint Calculator. This includes all the Scope 1 emissions for the vehicle fleet and heating used in our offices. The scope 2 emissions are all related to electrical power used in the offices.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction target. We project carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 32 tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 32%.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

We are currently implementing a number of emission reduction projects:

  • We have achieved ISO14000 accreditation.

  • Our current vehicle fleet is being upgraded to EV/hybrid power. All site have vehicle chargers installed.

  • We are now conducting environmental awareness training in our staff induction training and refresh training for all staff. Our offices are having PIR and LED lighting installed and have reached 25%.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Install occupancy sensors or timers to automatically turn off lights when not in use.

  • Optimise natural lighting with daylighting strategies.

  • Install solar panels.

  • Install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on rooftops or unused land.

  • Generate clean, renewable electricity to offset carbon emissions.

  • Take advantage of government incentives or tax credits for solar installations.

  • Replace outdated heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with energy-efficient models.

  • Perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.

  • Implement regular maintenance schedules to ensure optimal vehicle performance.

  • Encourage eco-driving practices among employees.

  • Waste reduction and recycling initiatives.

  • Replace outdated appliances and office equipment with energy-efficient models.

  • Implement power management settings on computers and other electronic devices.

  • Unplug chargers and devices when not in use.

  • Employee engagement and training.

  • Encourage employee-led initiatives to improve environmental performance.

  • Conduct regular energy audits.

  • Perform regular energy audits to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

  • Set goals and targets for energy reduction based on audit findings.

  • Monitor progress towards targets and adjust strategies as needed.
